National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Moss says his return to the brand played a major role in his form at the Broadford Monster Energy MX Nationals opener, capping off the weekend with the final moto victory.

A DNF in moto one after a crash that involved twin brother Matt denied Moss of an overall podium at the conclusion of the round, however second in moto two and his moto three win salvaged him seventh overall.

Moss starred in a guest role for the American Monster Energy Kawasaki during the 2009 Pro Motocross Championship; the last time he was aboard his favoured KX450F filling in for Ryan Villopoto.

“I’m definitely happy with the way I rode,” Jake commented. “Obviously the end result wasn’t where I wanted to be – I told myself I wouldn’t crash and I did in the first moto and that let me down.

“But that last moto was the first time I’d ridden like that in a long time, kinda like I did when I rode Villopoto’s bike. I think it’s just the Kawasaki, it suits me and I felt so confident. I found some good lines on the sight lap and just charged. To win convincingly is a big deal to me.”

Jake now sits seventh in the standings, 29 points in arrears of Suzuki’s current defending champion Matt Moss.
