Multiple Australian champion Toby Price is certain a maiden victory is within his grasp following his comeback from career-threatening neck injuries sustained last year.

The KTM Enduro Racing Team rider was second overall in the three-round Enduro-X Nationals that concluded last weekend at Calder Park, but has yet to clinch an overall victory upon return.

With his confidence increasing and race fitness peaking, Price is confident he will enter the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) with form on his side.

“I sound like a broken record, I can see that first race win coming but it just hasn’t happened yet. I can’t wait for the AORC to kick-off because I know I’m good, healthy and ready to keep putting the effort in until I get that first race win.”

Price was third overall at Calder Park with 7-4-1 results to his credit; his chance at victory fading in race one when he got wedged on a rock obstacle while attempting to go for the lead. He’ll now turn his attention to Finke Desert Race training.

“That was all I could come up with today,” Price reflected. “I had a chance at one stage, but I probably tried to rush it a little bit and blew it, but that’s racing and that’s how it goes.

“Next I’m heading out to Finke for some testing and a bit of promotional work with the desert racing team and I’m really looking forward to it,” he added. “It’s going to be a big contrast going from slow technical riding to hanging on for grim life – I can’t wait.”

The AORC season will officially commence with rounds one at two at Bulahdelah in NSW on 22-23 March.
