Aussie to undergo further treatment before return.
Discount Tire Racing’s Chad Reed has parked his TwoTwo Motorsports-prepared Kawasaki KX450F following a brave attempt to ride this afternoon in Dallas’ Monster Energy Supercross round.
The 31-year-old Australian completed a gritty two laps during 450SX qualifying practice in Texas, before exiting the track with further pain when he attempted to log a qualifying lap.
Reed’s scheduled return from this point will depend on the severity of his pain and updated injury prognosis – now undergoing further scans on the injury following his practice laps.
“Well we tried,” Reed Tweeted after the session. “Went to go for a time and shoulder either popped out or the coracoid process pulled off, which is what we were concerned bout. On way to get MRI and more X-rays now.”
Reed had been well in title contention until his final lap crash at San Diego just one week ago, winning races at Anaheim 2 and 3 earlier in the season. He’s currently recovering from a broken collarbone, scapula and T1 vertebra.
