Four-time Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont is all but confirmed to be returning to the powerhouse CDR Yamaha team this year, taking delivery of a 2014 YZ450F this week.

The popular 30-year-old departed Craig Dack’s Victorian-based team at the end of 2011 following four consecutive MX Nationals titles together, joining Monster Energy Kawasaki for two seasons.

Marmont largely struggled to come to grips with the team’s KX450F outdoors during 2012 and 2013, however victory in the 2012 Australian Supercross Championship was a rare highlight in the relationship.

Following lengthy links with a Yamaha return, speculation of Marmont’s comeback at CDR peaked this evening when he posted an image of his brand new Yamaha through social media, with official confirmation from the team imminent.

Marmont is poised to replace Lawson Bopping – ironically Marmont’s replacement two years ago – alongside Billy Mackenzie this year when the MX Nationals commence at Broadford on Sunday, 30 March.

It’s anticipated Marmont’s former position on the factory Kawasaki team alongside Adam Monea will be taken up by Jake Moss.
