Lawson Bopping is one of multiple top riders yet to secure a deal for 2014, not yet ruling out a third year at CDR Yamaha.
Bopping has had a frustrating 2013 season, plagued by Glandular Fever and a troublesome knee injury sustained midway through the supercross season.
With CDR Yamaha yet to confirm its structure for 2014, Bopping admits he’s open to options, but still believes a return to CDR is possible.
“Right now I have nothing really lined up – not over here, that’s for sure,” Bopping told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’m still speaking to CDR, still have a bike of theirs, and it is an option.
“But at this point I couldn’t say what I am doing because I don’t know. There’s still a long time until round one, so we’ll see…”
Despite still recovering from the fever and his knee injury, Bopping is also weighing up the possibility of contesting a number of American Supercross rounds at the beginning of next year in what would be a privateer assault.
“That’s on the radar,” Bopping said of a trip to the US. “If it’s going to happen though, it will have to happen soon.”
Bopping finished the MX Nationals series in ninth this year, rounding out the season 11th in supercross after sitting out rounds in each.
CDR Yamaha team owner Craig Dack said the team is awaiting confirmation on supercross’ future before finalising the team’s rider line-up for next season.
