Malcolm Stewart has signed with Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda for the 2014 American supercross and motocross season.
Stewart made his TLD debut as a replacement rider at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross opener at Hangtown this past May after the Australian-owned JDR Motorsports team closed operations.
The highlight of his summer was a moto two podium at Budds Creek, where he finished a career-best fourth overall for the day.
“We were working closely with his brother James and his family on a different project and got to know Malcolm personally,” Troy Lee commented. “He’s a good kid and lots of fun to be around. I feel that he’s a good fit for the team.”
TLD team manager Tyler Keefe looks forward to building upon foundations formed with Stewart during this year’s outdoor campaign.
“It’s great to sign Malcolm to the TLD team for the upcoming season,” Keefe said. “He made some great contributions to the program, earned the ride with his results, and I look forward to seeing his continued success in 2014.”
Stewart will ride West Coast Supercross Lites alongside Cole Seely, Jessy Nelson and Shane McElrath before returning to the outdoors full time in the 450 Class.
