Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Clement Desalle is shooting for a fourth-straight grand prix win in the Netherlands.

The sandy Dutch circuit of Lierop will host the 17th and final grand prix on the FIM World Motocross Championship calendar this weekend.

With KTM pairing Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings already securing the respective MX1 and MX2 titles, attention now turns to a tightly-contested race for final placings in the class top five.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Clement Desalle already has the MX1 runner-up position locked down but will look to finish his season in in strong form as he challenes for a fourth consecutive win.

Fellow Belgian, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Ken De Dycker, is confirmed in third, with the real race for places coming down to a scrap between France’s Gautier Paulin in fourth, and Belgian Kevin Strijbos, who sits fifth.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing not only has its hands on the MX2 title, but also the runner-up place, thanks to a strong season from Frenchman Jordi Tixier.

The race is still on for third between Jose Butron and Chistophe Charlier, while Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff, currently fifth, will look for a strong result on home soil to challenge for fourth.

Aussie Dean Ferris is in striking distance of the top four, and would surely be closer had it not been for a mechanical DNF that stopped his run of three consecutive race wins in Great Britain.

Ferris sits sixth, and is just 16 points shy of Coldenhoff with a 50-point haul up for grabs at Lierop.
