Rockstar Energy Racing has officially confirmed it will switch from Suzuki to KTM in 2014 after lead rider Davi Millsaps was spied testing a 450 SX-F this week.

The team has announced it has signed a three-year contract with KTM Motorsports, scheduled to debut the Austrian brand on 19 October at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas.

“As a satellite team, we will always be the little engine that could, but having the support of KTM is a huge advantage,” said team owner Bobby Hewwitt.

“We are delighted and grateful to race KTM motorcycles and eagerly excited for the opportunity to utilize KTM’s new Factory Services program. This will be a very exciting venture for our team.”

Through KTM’s Factory Service Program, which allows racers and support teams the opportunity to purchase the same engine and suspension components as the factory team, the RER team will have the platform it needs to deliver the results that the team, it’s riders and it’s sponsors are looking to achieve.

For 2014, RER will continue to support Millsaps as its premier 450 Supercross and Motocross class rider. It will also field a two-man Lites team with returning rider Jason Anderson as well as the 2013 Rookie of the Year Joey Savatgy.

“I believe with my team’s support and my dedication to training that I can win on the KTM,” Millsaps commented. “I am excited for this new opportunity and am expecting another great season as I contend for the championship.”

Anderson is also excited with the team’s switch to KTM following another standout season in the Lites.

“I raced KTMs for my last few years as an amateur and really loved the motorcycles,” Anderson said. “I am happy with the team’s decision to switch to KTMs and I feel the bikes will be a good fit for me this season. I hope to put the KTM on the box at the opening round in Anaheim.”

The title sponsor will remain with Rockstar Energy Drink and the remainder of the 2013 season sponsors will return to support the team for the 2014 season.
