Carlton Dry Honda Racing has filled its vacant factory MX2 seat from within its own stable of riders, slotting versatile Off-Road star Peter Boyle into the role for the remainder of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals, beginning this weekend.

The Victorian is an accomplished motocross rider, but focuses his primary efforts on Off-Road competition, recently placing third in both the Hattah Desert Race and the E1 class of the Australian 4 Day Enduro.

“I am excited to be racing motocross again,” said Boyle. “It has been two years since I raced professionally but I did do a couple of races last year.

“The past week I have been out testing with the team which has been really fun.”

Boyle takes over the place of Josh Cachia, who was ruled out of contention earlier in the season due to injury. The team had drafted Jackson Richardson into the seat but he too was injured in qualifying at Hervey Bay.

Boyle will continue to contest the Australian Off-Road Championship along with racing the final two MX Nationals events at Toowoomba and Coolum.

“This weekend will provide me with a good warm-up ahead of next weekend’s Off-Road event,” he said. “After that the plan is to do the final two motocross events in Queensland.”

Boyle last contested a full season the national Motocross series in 2007, finish 10th outright in the MX1 class.
