Australia’s Brett Metcalfe has secured the 2013 Canadian Motocross Championship MX1 title with a round remaining on the back of another overall win.
The Monster Energy/Parts Canada/Leading Edge Kawasaki rider headed to Riverglade MX Park in Moncton with a 74-point advantage over Bobby Kiniry, needing only a modest finish at round eight to seal his championship.
Metcalfe met the task with ease, finishing third in moto one before backing up to cap off his crown with a win in moto two.
The Aussie set his sights on the Canadian championship after failing to land a ride in the AMA Pro Motocross Championshis this year.
Metcalfe finished second at the opening round of the series before claiming four consecutive overall victories in a row.
His lowest finish was a third place at round six and he will wear the number one plate to the final round where he will aim to add a final win to his tally.
