The structure for the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals is reaching finalisation following a teams meeting with series promoter Williams Event Management on Saturday afternoon at Hervey Bay.

Held beneath the CDR Yamaha team awning and hosted by WEM managing director Kevin Williams, the meeting included a who’s who of the Australian Motocross industry.

“One of the many things we have prided ourselves on at WEM is having an open communication policy with the teams,” said Williams. “The meeting was very positive and we are on track for 2014.”

It’s been revealed and since confirmed that the MXD category for Under 19s competitors will be reduced to Under 18s next year, as speculated for much of the current season.

Sources present at the meeting suggest the series will continue at 10 rounds next year, however a special one-off event at Gladstone in memory of Jono Porter 10 years following his passing has been proposed.

The series will again return to Wanneroo in Western Australia as part of a multi-year agreement, scheduled for alternate years on the schedule through 2018.

A detailed calendar is anticipated to be released by November, as it was last year.

It was also discussed whether the newly-introduced Super Pole qualifying format should continue to pay points toward the championship in 2014 – that factor playing a vital role in the podium positions to date this season.

Expect much of the information outlined in the meeting to be confirmed throughout the coming months.
