2012 runner-up set to field a Motorex KTM 450 SX-F in the upcoming championship.
Last year’s Australian Supercross Championship Open class runner-up Daniel McCoy will contest the 2013 series on a Motorex KTM 450 SX-F.
It is understood that the NSW-based rider will sign a contract with the factory KTM outfit in the coming weeks, confirming his spot at the start gates for the opening round at Hidden Valley in the Northern Territory on 14-15 September.
McCoy revealed the forthcoming deal by posting a picture with a Motorex KTM 450 SX-F on his Instagram account early last weekend.
He contested the 2012 championship with CDR Yamaha, riding to three podium places from four starts to finish just nine points behind eventual winner Jay Marmont.
He was a last minute addition Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s factory effort for the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals, but felt under-resourced as a ‘fill-in’ rider and elected to part ways with the team upon mutual agreement in the mid-season break.
McCoy has ridden for the Motorex KTM team previously during his career, most recently in 2006 under team manager Rob Twyerould.
