Australia’s Mackenzie Tricker finished up her 2013 Women’s Motocross Triple Crown campaign over the weekend with an impressive podium finish in the sands of Southwick.

The three-round WMX series, taking place at select rounds of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, proved to be a tough one for the 18-year-old who suffered a knee injury during moto one at High Point’s second round.

The Rock River Yamaha rider tore both her ACL and Meniscus and sat out moto two, but she was determined to push through the pain and made a gritty return at Moto-X 338 to finish the series with a 2-2 score for second overall.

“I tore my ACL and meniscus in two spots, so I just tried to rehab it and get back as soon as possible,” Tricker told Racer X. “I wanted to come back this weekend and give it a go.

“I got around [Jessica] Patterson and [Sara] Pettersson, had the lead for a lap or so, I don’t remember how long. It was a crazy race, with the rain coming down, I ran out of tear offs. I was just happy to come out of here with two seconds considering the injuries and all.”

Although she missed third overall in the series by just one point to Taylor Higgins, Tricker is keeping a positive attitude and will now focus on her upcoming Loretta Lynn’s and X Games performances before returning home to New South Wales for surgery.

“I was up around the top five at every round, I haven’t looked at the points yet but I think I missed third overall by one point,” she added. “That’s kind of a bummer but considering I missed the second moto at High Point, I can’t complain.

“In four weeks I’m racing Loretta Lynn’s and also X Games, then I’ll go home and get my knee fixed.”
