Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard is scheduled to make a return to the FIM Motocross World Championship this weekend in Sweden.

Following re-evaluation of his right knee last week, Frossard was given the all-clear to return for round 10 of the series with only minimal ligament damage revealed from his scans.

Some fluid remains in the joint but the 2011 MX1 world championship runner-up can now race without any chances of doing further damage, a huge relief for Frossard.

“A big weight off my shoulders,” said Frossard. “I’m really happy to be back on the bike and to be able to ride like I want without any reaction from the knee.”

Frossard started riding his YZ450FM last Thursday and has since been pounding out motos without experiencing any issues with the knee.

“I was a bit careful in the beginning and the track was wet and slippery so no point to risking anything but I soon got back to a decent speed,” he explained.

“I have no idea what to expect for Sweden. I’ve had very little luck so far this season and just want to go there and show some speed and enjoy the racing.”

Although Frossard admits he will be well off peak physical condition heading to Sweden, he is excited to be back with the team once again.

“I doubt I am near peak physical condition to go with the top guys over the full distance but some race mileage is the only way to get that back,” he added. “I’m excited and pleased to be with the team again.”

Monster Energy MX Nationals regular and CDR Yamaha rider Billy Mackenzie filled-in at the Italian GP while Frossard sidelined with his injury.
