Metcalfe continues Canadian Motocross winning streak

Australia’s Brett Metcalfe has clinched his third-straight MX1 overall win at round four of the 2013 Canadian Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.
Aboard his Team Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki, Metcalfe took consistent 2-1 moto finishes at the Castrol Raceway circuit in Edmonton.
Metcalfe’s 2-1 score tied him on points for first, but his moto two win was enough to tip the scales and edge out second place rider Teddy Maier.
Maier took the MX1 moto one win aboard his Kawasaki followed by a second place in moto two for second overall on the day.
Taking the final podium spot was US AMA Supercross and Motocross regular Bobby Kiniry. The Yamaha rider used a pair of third place finishes for third overall.
Tyler and Jeremy Medaglia made it a family affair to round out the top five, the brothers earning fourth and fifth spots respectively in the premier class.
Metcalfe leads the MX1 championship chase 44 points ahead of Kiniry in second followed by Tyler Medaglia in third. Teddy Maier and Jeremy Medaglia round out the top five.
In the MX2 class it was Kaven Benoit who took the overall win at round four. The KTM rider used 2-1 moto scores to secure his first overall win of the season.
Taking the runner-up spot was Kawasaki rider Joshua Clark with a 4-2 moto score, Honda rider Brad Nauditt finished third overall with his 3-3 moto scorecard.
Series leader Austin Politelli took the moto one win before a sub-par sixth place moto two finish forced him to settle for fourth overall. Kyle Swanson rounded out the top five with 5-4 scores.
Politelli leads the MX2 class into round five 33 points ahead of round four winner Benoit. Nauditt sits third overall followed by Clark and Topher Ingalls.
The 2013 Canadian Monster Energy Motocross Nationals heads to Gopher Dunes on 14 July for round five of the nine round series.
