With the Swan Hill circuit in Victoria being fresh addition to the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals calendar, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea took the opportunity to sample the venue last weekend.

Swan Hill hosted round two of the Victorian Motocross Titles and Monea swept both motos in the Pro Open division against the likes of Kade Mosig, Sam Martin and Jacob Wright.

Following valuable track time on the circuit, the MX1 contender believes the layout will provide great racing with its premium soil and large selection of line choices that develop throughout the day.

“It’s a good track, it’s got awesome dirt and a decent layout, it should be for some good tight racing,” said Monea. “We got lucky with the Victorian titles last weekend, they had ripped it pretty deep and the week before they got some decent rain.

“It was pretty boggy on the Saturday that the lites guys rode, then on the Sunday we had premium conditions. It was rutty, tricky and all the good stuff. There were lots of lines and it was a track that sorted out the men from the boys.

“It should be good for a national circuit, I just hope they put some bigger jumps in and stuff like that. We’re on the premium stage, all of us guys can do it and it’s a spectacle for the fans too. They want to see some air and some whips, so we’ll have to just wait and see.”

Monea believes his recent Pro Open win on the Swan Hill circuit will help give him the upper-hand heading back there for round eight, admitting that he expected more national level riders to do the same.

“I was actually suprised that more people were not down there being a fresh track. I hadn’t been there since I was 12-years-old, so I had to go.

“Not much had changed, but it’s still good to get out there. You need to know what we’re going to be racing, so I was suprised more people didn’t do it.

“Getting the win and riding how I did, I got some important testing information there. So I was happy and I definitely feel I have an advantage coming in to round eight there.”

Monea currently sits sixth overall in the MX Nationals MX1 standings with five rounds remaining on the 2013 schedule.
