GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn is set to make a return to racing at this weekend’s Red Bull Budds Creek National, round five of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.
The Budds Creek event will be Hahn’s first outdoor race of the season after suffering a broken wrist at the Las Vegas Monster Energy Supercross season finale.
Although was able to Hahn clinch the east coast 250SX title with his broken wrist, surgery was required after the event which put a stop to the momentum he had hoped to carry through to the Motocross series.
“I was looking forward to carrying that momentum from Supercross into Motocross, but it didn’t work out for me that way,” Hahn said.
“But since the surgery on my wrist, I’ve been working as hard as I can. I’ve had some good therapy to get this thing healed and get back on the bike as soon as possible.”
The 250 Class contender maintained a strong training program while injured and feels confident in his GEICO Honda CRF250R heading into his first outdoor race of the 2013 season.
“I’ve been focusing on my cardio, so I’ve logged a lot of miles on my bicycle,” he added. “The main thing for me was getting back on my GEICO Honda motorcycle. After the testing I’ve done, I feel like I’ve got a strong bike.”
Hahn will join his GEICO HOnda teammates Eli Tomac, who currently sits second overall in points, Zach Osborne and Justin Bogle at this weekend’s event on 22 June.
