Following a pair of first-place ties in the MX2 class, Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Josh Cachia has had enough of coming second on a countback and will be aiming for an overall Monster Energy MX Nationals win when the series returns.
At both the Broadford and Conondale rounds, Cachia has been denied the overall win with Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke coming out on top according to the countback rule.
Cachia won the opening 30-minute moto at Queensland’s picturesque Conondale motocross track and finished second to Styke in moto two for second overall on the day.
“I got a killer start in the first moto and got a holeshot that I think I will remember for a very long time,” Cachia said. “I also had a good battle with Luke [Styke] through that race and showed that I had more speed than him.
“In the second race I got a bad start and worked my way up to second, but I was too far back to catch Luke.”
Cachia is happy with his move into third overall on the standings, but admits he is itching to claim his first win of the season.
“I got some valuable points today and I have moved to third in the championship but I really want that win I am sick of coming equal first,” he added.
The Monster Energy MX Nationals series will resume on 15 July at Appin in New South Wales for round six of the 10-round series.
