Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson has confirmed that a recent shoulder injury will forced him sit out the remainder of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.

The 450 Class rookie announced last week via Twitter that he had suffered a practice crash (click here to view that story), and this week MRI results revealed that he has indeed torn the labrum in his right shoulder.

The Scotsman suffered this same injury during the 2012 Supercross season after a run-in with GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac. Wilson sat out the entire 2012 outdoor series, unable to defend his 250 Class title.

“This is such a bummer,” said Wilson. “It’s the same shoulder I had problems with last summer, but as tough as this news is, it only adds to my determination to come back stronger.”

Wilson feels his program was just starting to come around after earning himself a season-best finish of 10th overall at Thunder Valley’s round two.

“I was really starting to gel with the 450 and felt like I was getting my program dialed in,” he added.

At this stage the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team are yet to announce plans for a fill-in rider to pit alongside Tyla Rattray. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
