Following an unusual injury during round five of the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championships (AORC), Motorex KTM Off-Road Racing’s Chris Hollis is currently under an injury cloud at this point in time.
Hollis’ incident occurred just minutes into Saturday’s racing at Corner Inlet in Victoria. Without falling, Hollis believes he pinched a nerve in his back which forced him to pull out of the race.
After dealing with severe pain on Saturday, Hollis regrouped and toughed it out during Sunday’s round six to take a solid third Outright.
“I slipped a disc or pinched a nerve or something on Saturday about 10 minutes into the three-hour and my legs began spasming, cramping and carrying on in a lot of pain,” Hollis explained.
“I didn’t know what was happening so I lay down beside the track and the ambos came and got me. It all came back after half an hour and I stretched a lot last night but still had dramas today.”
After finishing up round six in damage control mode, Hollis will be seeing a specialist this week to get to the bottom of his injury.
“At least with the sprints being only nine minutes long I was able to salvage some points for second in class and third Outright,” he added. “I’ll see the specialist tomorrow and get some scans to find out what’s going on.”
