Zero Seven Motorsports has called upon the services of Dylan Peterson to stand in for Kade Mosig as the Monster Energy MX Nationals MX2 contender sets his sights on a round six return following injury.

Mosig’s title campaign was turned on its head at Wonthaggi when he crashed and was hit by several bikes, resulting in a fracture to his L2 vertebrae.

He will miss the weekend’s upcoming Broadford round and is focusing on being back on the bike ahead of Hervey Bay, with the down time also allowing him to have a persistent shoulder injury corrected.

“This of course is not the way I had planned 2013 to go,” said Mosig. “It’s always a hard call to make but in the situation I’m in with my back I think its better to take the time off to be one-hundred percent fit before returning.

“My shoulder has been niggling me for some time now, but I haven’t really told anyone about it. It will be a good thing to have it fixed properly once and for all and come back stronger than ever in Hervey Bay.”

Team owner Mark Haughton called upon Peterson to campaign the team’s MX2 mount. Peterson has ridden for Zero Seven Motorsports before and showed he is capable of being competitive at a moment’s notice after he substituted for Billy Mackenzie at the factory Kawasaki team last year.

“It’s awesome to get the call up from Mark to fill in for Kade for the next couple of rounds,” said Peterson. “I haven’t had a bike this year other than an old 125cc, but I’m still fit and definitely don’t plan on going out there just to make up the numbers.

“I’ll do my best and hopefully get some good results. I’d like to be out racing full-time again next year.”

The team’s MX1 rider Cody Mackie was mixed up in a melee of his own at Wonthaggi but won’t let his injury – a grade two ligament tear in his right ankle – prevent him from competing.

“It was really disappointing to crash in Wonthaggi, but I’m determined not to miss any more racing,” said Mackie. “I’ll definitely be sore this weekend but I’ll give it my best shot.”

Mackie will look to improve upon his current 17th place in the class when racing resumes on Sunday for the fourth of 10 rounds.
