Dack: Every round vital for CDR Yamaha's title prospects

Consistent finishes important for Bopping and Mackenzie.

CDR Yamaha team principal Craig Dack has called upon his riders to deliver more consistent results as race for the Monster Energy MX Nationals MX1 class title passes one-third distance.

Young gun Lawson Bopping finished fourth overall at Wonthaggi to add to his solid championship standing of third, though it was a day to forget for the team’s senior rider Billy Mackenzie, who crashed heavily in the final moto and lost a strong point-scoring place in the process.

Dack has orchestrated the past five MX1 crowns and is well aware of what it takes to win in such a talent-stacked field.

“It certainly was an interesting day,” reflected Dack after Wongthaggi. “Both riders need to find some consistency in their racing so we can make a real charge at this championship.

“Both obviously have the speed to do it, but we must execute at every round from now on.”

The CDR Yamaha pairing will look to make an impact at round four of the championship at Broadford on May 19.

Just 11 points separate Matt Moss in second place and Mackenzie in fifth, making the next few outings vital as all riders set their sights on stopping runaway leader Todd Waters.
