Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss maintained his consistent start to the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals season, scoring a second top-five overall finish from as many starts at Murray Bridge on Sunday.

The multiple MX2 class champion was content with his return to MX1 running and feels his experience will allow him to build on the result as the season progresses.

Moss started his weekend haul with a valuable two points when he set the fourth-fastest time in Superpole, and recorded 4-7 finishes across the day, bouncing back from a sluggish start to the second moto.

“I qualified a lot better today and the first race was really good even though I got a bit of arm-pump,” Moss said. “I was really excited for the second moto, but unfortunately I got a really bad start – it was the worst start I’ve ever got in my life.

“When you’re riding around those guys mid-pack, you sort of get stuck around their pace and I couldn’t shake it.

“Otherwise, it’s the same result as round one and I’m happy with that. I just have to keep moving forward and getting stronger.”

Moss sits fifth on the MX1 standings, equal on points with brother Jake who won the opening Murray Bridge moto and finished third overall for the round on his satellite Campbell Mining Suzuki entry.
