In this edition of Rewind we take a look back at Cody Mackie's whirlwind US Supercross tour in 2012.
Just over one year ago Cody Mackie was in the US contesting the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, aboard a Jeff Ward Racing backed Kawasaki – and definitely making the most of his opportunity.
Mackie took the fill-in ride while Josh Grant was out injured and managed to land himself an impressive 12th place finish at the San Diego round in the premier 450SX class.
The New South Wales native proved to the world that he had some serious skills on a motorcycle and boosted his profile throughout the sport with his impressive stint stateside.
Once his time was up in the US, Mackie took an unexpected role as a stunt rider for the upcoming Mad Max movie. This role completely removed Mackie from the Australian motocross scene for the remainder of 2012.
Whilst mixing it up with a handful of Hollywood stars on set of the all-new film, Mackie maintained a strict training program to assure a strong comeback to racing if a ride became available for the 2013 season.
Sure enough, Mackie lined up a deal with the Kawasaki backed Troy Lee Designs – Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports for this season and has joined forces with Dan Reardon at Alteregoelite in preparation for the upcoming Monster Energy MX Nationals series.
Mackie will be taking on the premier MX1 class for 2013 and with solid pre-season performances under his belt, he will be one rider to watch – he is rejuvenated and hungry to prove a point in 2013.
