Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto has extended his Monster Energy Supercross 450SX points lead after taking out the Indianapolis main event win over the weekend.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps scored the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot, but was quickly passed by Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart who quickly sprinted away.

After a back and forth battle, Villopoto was able to make his way past Millsaps, and on that same lap Stewart stalled his bike in a tight corner handing the lead over to Villopoto.

Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey was on the move, making his way into second place on lap seven and pushing the pace of Villopoto to the limit. Although Dungey was close, he was unable to take a shot at the lead.

It was Villopoto and Dungey who scored the top two positions, while Stewart put came back from mid-race mishap to finish third after Millsaps took a fall on the final lap losing the final podium spot.

Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia rode strong in fifth, with TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed finishing behind him in sixth after suffering from a mid-pack start.

Villopoto extended his points 450SX series lead to nine points over Millsaps, while Dungey sits in third 17 points behind the lead spot.

Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin took his second-consecutive win of the season at Indianapolis, after putting together an impressive ride from the back of the pack.

While the former FIM Motocross World MX2 champion was caught up in the first corner with GEICO Honda’s Will Hahn, Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Blake Wharton took the holeshot followed by Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson and AG Motorsports’ Kyle Peters.

Wilson took a hard fall while making a move for the lead and was unable to continue racing. The title favourite now looks to be out for the remainder of the season with multiple injuries.

Wharton gained control of the race with Peters in second and AJ Catanzaro sitting in third, but Musquin pushed his way past Catanzaro on lap 11 with Hahn following through on lap 13 to put himself in fourth.

On the final lap disaster struck for Wharton who crashed hard in the whoops section, handing the lead over to Musquin who had made his way into second place at that stage.

Musquin would go on to take the suprise victory with Peters in second and Hahn taking the final podium position. Catanzaro took a career best fourth with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Justin Hill behind him in fifth.

Wharton was later docked positions for cutting the track after his crash, resulting in a ninth place overall. Australia’s Jackson Richardson was 18th in the 250SX main event.

Hahn maintains his 250SX overall standings lead heading into round 12, while Musquin makes his way up to second, just nine points behind Hahn. Wharton holds down third place with Wilson dropping back to fifth.
