My Way

Greatest moment of your career?
Getting call-up to race AMA Supercross and having the opportunity to race against the world’s best. It was a life highlight for me and not many people have achieved that.

Toughest race ever?
The Junior World Championships in Taupo in 2008. The track is gnarly before racing even starts, it rained non-stop, it was below zero and I had a hardcore race with Tye Simmonds and Eli Tomac.

Long-term goal?
To be successful in Australia, support my family, have fun and never work a day in my life.

Favourite track?
Coolum, no-one can ever beat me there.

If you weren’t a racer, you would be?
A professional surfer, or riding some chopped-out bike in a motorcycle gang.

Arch-rival?
Probably Tye Simmonds. He was a big rival for 10 years through juniors. We’d just go flat out and smash each other in corners. He was too big for me to take down though.

Greatest inspiration?
Bronte Holland. He taught me the ropes and opened eyes to life. We used to ride and train hard every day and I line up to all my races for him and to honour his memory. I made that promise at his funeral and I’ll keep it until the day I die.

Superstitions?
I hold my breath whenever I pass a graveyard as I don’t like spirits getting inside me.

Training methods?
I surf a lot, run in soft sand and use the ocean as a training tool. It keeps me fit, has special healing powers and you can’t beat cold-water therapy, especially in Victoria.

Goal for 2013?
Get mad holeshots and not let anyone see where I go. I want to get so far in front people can’t get onto my tailpipe.

Off The Wall

Best all-time moto DVD/video?
Old school Crusty Demons and 50 Nuts. That DVD opened my eyes to a lot of things as a kid!

Non-bike related hobbies?
Anything that gives me a thrill and adrenalin rush, surfing and diving.

Do you read your pit board?
50-50. If I’m coming through the pack and concentrating on the guy in front, I don’t take my eyes off him.

What do you drive?
A black Ford F6 ute that’s off its head.

Favourite magazine?
Inked magazine

What’s on the iPod?
A day to remember, AmityAffliction, Flume

Best thing about the MX Nationals?
I enjoy the whole day, from people cooking breakfast on the barbie, racing all day, then chilling out and talking shit at the end of the day. It’s especially good when you’re on the podium handing out champagne showers.

Who will win AMA SX 2013?
I’d like to say Davi Millsaps as I got to know him and he’s never shy to say g’day. I’ve got respect for that. I’m gunning for Eli Tomac to take out the Lites, he has a great attitude, is a solo man and gets the job done.

Tell us something we don’t know about you?
After today’s tattoo session I’ll be covered in tats from the waist down.

One or the Other

Traditional motos or mixed formats?
Mixed formats. They’re hardcore and the only people whingeing are those who can’t do them. Traditional motos this year is going to be boring.

Chad Reed or Jeff Leisk?
Jeff Leisk.

Monster, Red Bull, Rockstar?
Monster.

PC or Mac?
I’m a lifetime Mac supporter

McDonalds or KFC?
KFC

Europe or USA?
USA

Two-stroke or four-stroke?
Four-stroke

MX Nationals or Supercross?
MX Nationals

Print or Digital (iPad) magazines?
Print for sure.

Blonde or brunette?
Blonde.
