Gavin Faith has kicked off his east region 2013 Monster Energy Supercross 250SX campaign with a strong seventh place ride aboard his MotoConcepts backed ride.

The 2012 Australian Supercross Championships SX-Lites winner had put in the hard yards in preparation for the 2013 season, gaining vital confidence in lead up to the US series.

“After last supercross season, I went back to the drawing board at MTF,” Faith told Racer X Online. “I did a lot of work during the outdoor season and basically rode supercross all year long.

“I got ready for Australia and went over there to race. I ended up winning the championship, so I came here and felt like I had pretty good speed. The heat race was good and I had fun battling with those guys. It was a confidence booster.

“The main event didn’t quite go the way I wanted it to. I got a horrible start, but I came through alright.”

Faith believes that a podium finish is on the cards following an impressive heat race win after battling with GEICO Honda’s Will Hahn and Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin.

“I like to think I can get a podium, for sure,” he added. “That’s the goal – I just need to get a start. I feel like I showed pretty good speed battling with [Wil] Hahn and [Marvin] Musquin. I just need to put it together in the main.”

Faith currently sits seventh overall in the 250SX east points chase as the series rolls in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome this weekend.
