Monster Energy Kawasaki team manager Troy Carroll recently spent time in the US gathering valuable knowledge to improve his team in lead up to the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals series.

Running their all-new MX1 dedicated program for 2013 with Jay Marmont and Adam Monea heading up their outfit, Carroll took the trip over to assure he had the best parts, information and settings available for his riders.

With such a large knowledge base available within the US, Carroll believes that staying in touch with his overseas contacts is vital for his team’s success.

“The reason to head over there was to basically see everybody we deal with on a US basis,” said Carroll. “I’m a believer that you’ve got to show your face to the people you work with every once in a while, I hadn’t been over there for two years and I thought it was time to go over and see the guys.

“Basically I talked to them about any updates they have got and what they could do for us to help the race team out this season. We went to Pro Circuit, we went to Enzo, we went to all of those companies to see those guys and to see how they work.

“We’ve brought back parts which we’ve been trying and have worked for us, and it’s all about getting the bike going better, stronger and doing a better job than we did last year.”

Sitting down with some of the best technicians in the sport benefits Carroll and his team greatly, being able to source information on any issues they dealt with during the previous season.

“Just sitting in front of them and talking about the issues we’ve had over the last 12 months, which hasn’t been that many,” Carroll explained. “But the issues we have had, they can give you their insight too and give you an explanation for everything that’s happened on the bike.”

Carroll is also looking to improve the pit aspect of his team, after taking a look at the current US teams and their pit operations he plans to once again raise the bar within Australia.

“It gave us a look at the US scene as well,” he added. “I’ve basically watched what we’ve done over the last two years and I think we’ve set a lot of records with taking the party into the pit a little bit. Making sure not just the spectator, but the sponsors and everybody involved with out race team enjoys what we do in the pit.

“Going over there and seeing what all the teams are doing now and what they’re actually doing to entertain the crowd, it’s something that we look forward to as well. I think winning races is our number one concern, but also entertaining the sponsor and fans is also a big thing for us.”

Carroll and the Monster Energy Kawasaki crew will debut their 2013 team outfit at Raymond Terrace’s round one of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals on 14 April.
