Victorian Josh Cachia will return to Australia for the entire Monster Energy MX Nationals season, following the news that his JDR Motorsports team will possibly close its doors in May.

Cachia signed to contest the West Coast Regional 250SX class of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in the US for 2013, however with the team planning on closing following the Vegas finals, Cachia has opted to return home ahead of schedule.

With the MX Nationals commencing at Raymond Terrace on 14 April, three rounds of the US supercross series will still remain. Not in contention for the title in America, Cachia will turn his attention back to Australia following San Diego’s sixth round next weekend.

Murray Bridge’s second MXN round clashes with Salt Lake City AMA Supercross, while Wonthaggi is on the same weekend as the Vegas finals.

Yet to secure a seat in Australia upon his return, a number of teams have expressed early interest in the talented 21-year-old who won the final two MXN rounds in 2012.

“I’m definitely going to be there [in the MX Nationals], not sure what colour I will be riding, but I plan on doing big things, that’s for sure,” Cachia confirmed to MotoOnline.com.au this afternoon.

“I don’t want to go home and just be a rider, I want to try and help the sport as well. Whether I do or not, I just want to give it a go, you know?”

Cachia has so far suffered a frustrating debut campaign in the US with the JDR/J-Star/KTM team, called in at late notice by the Australian-owned team and scoring a season-best 14th at Phoenix earlier this month.

With his new-found experience in America, Cachia plans to carry the skills he has picked up back to Australia and into the domestic championships.

“I’ve learned a lot here, so hopefully I can apply those things back home,” he said. “There’s no point doing the last three rounds here and messing up my season back in Australia.”
