The Go: Happy Holidays 2013

MotoOnline.com.au’s Alex Gobert reflects on the year that was and what’s in store for the new year.

The 2012 season has absolutely flown by, but what a year it was in the world of racing and MotoOnline. We saw new champions crowned in many series, some new stars rise and a heap of very exciting new models released by the manufacturers.

Right here on the site we introduced a revamped site almost 12 months ago now and it’s proven a huge success with continued growth in visitors and sponsorship interest. I have to personally thank each and every one of our supporters, because without it we simply wouldn’t be able to operate at the level we do day in, day out.

The industry has enjoyed a great year with a lot of positive events and, as mentioned above, the release of many fresh new models can only be good for the sport and we’re already hearing there are more to come ahead of 2014! Progress is constant in the world of dirt biking, whether it be the bikes we ride or the various equipment we utilise on any given ride.

For 2013 we have a refined plan scheduled for MotoOnline.com.au, basically building on the momentum we gained this year and I am excited to put these plans into place. You’ll notice a number of slight revisions taking place on the site in the coming weeks (and some have already been implemented), but we’ll outline them after the break.

Next year we’ll be focusing even harder on breaking news first, as well as producing as many feature stories, images and film that the budget allows for! What I can promise is that you won’t see the level of commitment to a website anywhere else within Australia.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the job is obviously the testing and reviewing process, so we’ve set more budget toward that and you’ll see it seriously expand next year. It’s a time consuming effort, but a lot of fun and great for our readers to see what our thoughts are on many different products available locally.

We’ll be going all in with the MX Nationals once again, our supercross coverage will be boosted and a number of other events will be covered more in-depth than ever before on the site – including the Australian Off-Road Championship.

Next month we have the annual trip to the US planned once again while we await the domestic racing season to start, so we’ll be focusing on getting as much access as we can from an Aussie perspective during the early rounds of Monster Energy Supercross in America. We cannot wait for that!

As per the last couple of years we will limit our updates on the site during the holiday period as everybody is out enjoying the Aussie summer, but stay tuned to our social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for plenty of behind the scenes action in the meantime.

Once again thank you for the year past and bring on the year ahead in 2013! Have a happy Christmas/new year, and remember, make the most of the time off to go and moto. See you next year.
