Following their 2012 KTM factory edition release of the 450 SX-F, the Austrian manufacturer have announced they will once again do the same for 2013 with their premier class weapon.
This factory edition 2013 KTM 450 SX-F will be a US-only release and as per the AMA homologation rules, over 400 of these must be made available for sale in order for Ryan Dungey to use the bike in competition.
555 of these factory edition models will be produced and the 450cc fuel-injected four-stroke single cyclinder motor remains largely the same, but in order to help reduce weight KTM redesigned the engine cases and clutch cover and removed the kick starter boss.
KTM believes that removing the boss, on top of a slight weight reduction, will also further reinforce the effectiveness of KTMs electric start system for competition racing. KTM focused largely on weight reduction for this model, aiming to be the lightest 450 in it’s class, within regulations.
Upgrades to the chassis include orange anodized CNC-machined triple clamps and an orange powder-coated frame. The 2013 450 SX-F Factory Edition also comes with a Salle de Valle seat, Akrapovic titanium factory silencer, a gold Regina racing chain, black Excel rims, orange radiator and fork protectors, front brake disc guard and Red Bull KTM factory team graphics.
