The 2012 41st annual Thor Winter Olympics have wrapped up in Florida this week, after a strong showing from our small Australian contingent consisting of Mackenzie Tricker, Luke Clout and Emerson Atkins.
The unique amateur event consists of both the technical supercross and wide open motocross disciplines of the sport, attracting plenty of riders and fans to the infamous Gatorback circuit.
Yamaha mounted Mackenzie Tricker, of New South Wales, scored herself two number one plates after capturing the Women’s (12+) class crowns in both the supercross and motocross portions of the event.
After suffering a rough crash in the supercross portion of the event, Luke Clout, aboard a privateer Honda, regrouped for motocross to score himself fourth place finishes in the stacked 450 A and 250 Pro Sport classes, along with a fifth overall in the 250 A class.
Newcastle native Emerson Atkins finished up with a 33rd placing in the 250 C Stock division, along with 36th and 40th place finishes in the Open C Stock and 250 C Mod class respectively.
