Full Force CarsRus.com.au’s Dean Porter is set to make his return to supercross at this weekend’s round three of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships.
Porter, best known for his ability on sandy motocross tracks, will be look to transfer that high-speed talent over to the technical Toowoomba circuit on Saturday.
The Western Australian spent last week on a four-day charity ride in the north parts of Western Australia with one of his sponsors, Savannah Engineering.
“I did the Bloody Slow ride up at Newman for four days through the bush,” said Porter. “I had no signal for a week while I was there and when I got back I had a message from the Full Force CarsRus.com.au racing team saying that if I wanted to, I could come race the last two rounds of supercross.
“Since motocross I have been working as a plumber with a mate, trying to save money for next years motocross and when I spoke to the team I really wanted to race again”
Porter spent a day on a track in Western Australia and spent Wednesday riding a private supercross track on the Sunshine Coast.
“I was a bit rusty after not riding SX for almost 4 years but I was happy that I got through everything,” he added.
“Last week I rode one track back home, today was my first ride on a supercros track with studders, I got to ride Ford Dale and Nick Scotts track which was awesome, thanks to those guys for letting me have a ride.
“I have no idea where ill be, I haven’t ridden supercross for that long, I just want to make the main event and have a ride, I would love to make the top 10.”
Porter will be joined by teammate Sam Duncanson in the SX Open class, while Force CarsRus.com.au SX Lites contender Keiron Hall will sit out the remainder of the season due to a broken arm.
