International Entertainment Group’s (IEG) Yarrive Konksy has revealed the possibility of future Terex Australian Supercross Championships rounds being held alongside existing high profile events.

After the recent success of Phillip Island’s round two, which ran in conjunction with the Australian round of the MotoGP World Championship, Konksy says he would consider running alongside additional motorsport events including V8 Supercars.

Konsky also mentioned the possibility of hosting supercross alongside music festivals.

“I would like to work with several groups to ensure we continue to grow the value of supercross,” Konsky said.

“I would consider Bathurst, Sydney 500, F1, Clipsal and various other events as worthy platforms to showcase the best action-sport on two wheels. I would also consider some music festivals.”

After some critics commented that the track was too small and viewing platforms for fans were minimal at Phillip Island, Konsky admits that the size of the enormity of the event was underestimated, and that this will be solved for future events.

“With regards to the round that we ran in conjunction with MotoGP, I can strongly state that the enormity of it was underestimated by both parties and we will ensure that never happens again if we are to run at MotoGP,” he added.

“In saying that, I feel we did our riders, championship and sponsors proud in front of the biggest international audience our sport has ever competed in front of.

“The track definitely provided close and entertaining racing. As for the final two rounds, fans will witness two of the biggest tracks ever raced on in Australia.”

Estimated crowds at the Phillip Island event reached a record three day total of 122,470, more than 28 percent up on last year’s total attendance of 95,100. Over 40,000 fans were on hand at the venue Saturday when the pro supercross categories were on track.
