The 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships heads north this weekend to Toowoomba in Queensland for its third round of racing action.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont leads the SX Open class into this weekend’s event after taking the round one victory and backing it up with a solid second place finish at Phillip Island’s round two.
CDR Yamaha’s Dan McCoy maintains his second place overall placing with another podium finish in Phillip Island, while CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping makes the jump into third overall in the standings.
TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed scored the Phillip Island premier class win and will the rider to watch at Toowoomba as he makes battles it out with the likes of Marmont and McCoy.
Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Gavin Faith maintains series lead in the SX Lites class, the American rider winning both rounds one and two convincingly.
BCP Fox Honda’s Geran Stapleton jumped himself into second spot overall with his Phillip Island second place finish, unfortunately the Victorian was injured in a recent practice crash and will be out for the season.
Rounding out the top three is SX Lites veteran and JDR/KTM Factory Racing’s Ryan Marmont, the Wollongong native used a strong podium performance at Phillip Island to make his move up the ladder.
In the Under 19s division Honda mounted Hayden Mellross leads the charge, closely following in second place is Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Jay Wilson and the KTM 250 SX two-stroke mounted Kale Makeham sits in third.
