Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott has officially welcomed Chad Reed home for the second round of the Terex Australian Supercross Championships, to be staged alongside the AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island next weekend.

The Australian Supercross event at the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island will mark the first time fans will witness TwoTwo Motorsports compete on Australian soil.

“Chad brings a star element to the Australian Supercross Championship lineup at Phillip Island and we look forward to cheering on another homegrown international superstar,” Westacott said.

“The supercross track is currently near completion at Lukey Heights and is an exciting addition to the entertainment line-up for all fans at this year’s event.

“Chad’s involvement means that what is already shaping up to be a bumper event will be even bigger. Tickets are still available, but we are urging fans to book now to avoid disappointment.”

Dirt bikes have been the breeding ground for a host of star Australian road racers, with five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan, 1987 World Champion Wayne Gardner and reigning two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner all cutting their teeth off-road.

The Terex Australian Supercross Championships round, promoted by International Entertainment Group (IEG), will take place on a purpose-built track in the Lukey Heights precinct at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Up to 120 competitors will race in round two of the championship on the Saturday and Sunday of the Australian MotoGP event. At no extra cost, there will be prime spectator viewing for all event ticket holders.
