Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss will today find out whether his dislocated should injury sustained in a first lap clash at Dubbo’s Terex Australian Supercross opener will require surgery, potentially ruling him out of the season.
Multiple-time Australian champion Matt Moss returned to Motul Pirelli Suzuki at the season-opener, fresh back from a year in the United States, and lined up in the SX-Open class alongside team regular Todd Waters.
After winning his heat in convincing fashion, Moss hole-shotted the main before he went down in a controversial incident with Scotsman Billy Mackenzie – the end result amounting with a shoulder dislocation for Moss.
“The weekend started great, I felt really good to be back with Motul Pirelli Suzuki and was able to win my heat race,” Moss explained. “I felt good going into the final, got another holeshot and then I got landed on.
“It popped my shoulder out, so that cut my night short early and I wasn’t able to finish the race. We’ll find out soon whether I’ll be at the second round or not.”
Moss has just one weekend off to recover before Phillip Island’s second round on 27 October, but could be forced out for the remainder of 2012 if surgery is required.
Stay tuned for an update when we have it.
