MotoOnline.com.au has the ultimate guide to Dubbo's first round of the ASX series.
With the long-awaited 2012 Australian Supercross Championships looming upon us, just four days away from Dubbo’s season opener in New South Wales, things are heating up for an exciting series ahead.
Defending Pro Open champion Jay Marmont has been hard at work on his Monster Energy Kawasaki preparing to battle it out for his title, while a stacked field of contenders are sharpening their skills in a bid to land themselves on that top spot.
Marmont will be fending off riders such as 2011 runner-up Tye Simmonds aboard his Honda/Red Bull/Simmonds Racing entry and Dan McCoy of the CDR Yamaha team who took third overall last year.
Not to mention the likes of Todd Waters, Lawson Bopping, Matt Moss, Cheyne Boyd, Ford Dale and a possible return from Ben Townley. The premier class will be full of bar-banging action.
In the Pro Lites class 2011 series runner-up Gavin Faith will return from America to ride for the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing squad, Faith is looking to wrap-up a title this year.
Third place overall in 2011, Luke Styke, will return for the Serco Yamaha/Metal Mulisha Racing team, also joining him as a fresh face to the series will be his teammate Luke Clout. The 17-year-old will fill-in for the injured Kirk Gibbs throughout the four round series.
This class is sure to provide some intense racing with a deep talent field including riders such as Josh Cachia, Ryan Marmont, Steven Clarke, Kade Mosig and Errol Willis, to name a few.
In the hotly contested Under 19s class a fresh group of eager riders will be chomping at the bit to take home their first Australian Supercross title.
Hot favourites to look out for in this class will be Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Jay Wilson, Choice Motorsports KTM’s Dylan Long, GYTR Yamaha’s Sam Martin and Axis Motorsports Kawsaki’s Ben George, to name a few.
MotoOnline.com.au will compile an official pre-race Fan Guide ahead of every round in 2012.
