DPH Motorsports’ Cheyne Boyd is looking forward to the return of the traditional 20-lap main events in the upcoming 2012 Australian Supercross Championships.

After recently making the move back to the Pro Open class after spending the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals aboard a 250, Boyd feels comfortable and strong.

The Victorian says that the 20-lap main events will suit him well, and that his training and fitness level is tailored to that type of race.

“I feel with the 20 lap main events aswell that it is going to suit me a little more,” said Boyd. “I think I race in those conditions a little better and my fitness, I’ve done the hard work on the bike and off the bike. So my fitness for the 20 laps will be good.”

Preparations are going well for Boyd ahead of Dubbo’s season opener, he believes that his high intensity training will pay off when race day arrives.

Just with the way everything is going now, I wouldn’t really change anything at the moment,” he added. “The way practicing and everything is going, I do plenty of laps and plenty of motos where I think I put myself under a lot of pressure and intensity, and I feel like I’m doing it fairly easy.”

The 2012 Australian Supercross Championship will kick off on 13 October at Dubbo in New South Wales.
