Australia has made a stellar start to the 2012 FIM International Six Day Enduro in Germany.
Australia has made a stellar start to the 2012 FIM International Six Day Enduro in Germany, with all three green and gold Trophy teams posting top three finishes on the opening day of competition.
The Senior Australian team of Glenn Kearney, Daniel Milner, Chris Hollis, Matt Phillips, Josh Strang and Toby Price closed day one in second position on the World Trophy Team competition board, 4.13 minutes behind tough rivals France and 1.21 minutes ahead of third runners Finland.
The France-Australia battle rolled through into the Women’s Trophy competition as well, with Aussie’s Jess Gardiner, Tanya Hearn and Tayla Jones finishing the first day on track in second position, 7.44 minutes shy of the French team’s winning time.
The Junior Australian team of Ben Burrell, Luka Bussa, Mitcham Harper and Lachlan Stanford had a solid day out on the track, coming home third in the Junior World Trophy standings behind chargers Great Britain and Italy, with just 2.55 minutes separating the top three teams.
The Australian contingent posted some standout individual results across the classes. Price narrowly missed out on top honours in the Enduro 3 class, squeezed out of first place by four seconds by French rider Christophe Nambotin.
Strang and Phillips both finished in the top 10 in the Enduro 2 class, with Strang finishing in fifth and and Phillips in seventh, while Milner closed the day in sixth place in Enduro 1.
Jess Gardiner wrapped up second place in the Women’s class, with Hearn in 10th.
Day two of the 2012 FIM International Six Day Enduro gets underway at 7:30am local time (3:30pm AEST), with results streamed live at www.fim-isde.live.info.
