Sinclair to headline FMX at Dubbo and Toowoomba supercross rounds

Cam Sinclair will headline the FMX line-up at the Dubbo and Toowoomba ASX rounds.

X Games gold medalist Cameron Sinclair will headline the Night of Jumps freestyle motocross (FMX) shows at Australian Supercross Championship events in Dubbo and Toowoomba.

It will mark a return to the racing scene for Sinclair, who was an accomplished supercross racer before being lured to freestyle motocross full-time.

The 28-year-old from Pearcedale in Victoria was racing national events until as late as 2006, and was excited to confirm his place in the entertainment line-up at the October 13 and November 10 events.

“I think it’s an awesome idea to have freestyle motocross as part of the supercross entertainment,” said Sinclair.

“For me, that’s where it all started – I come from a racing background and have been riding since I was probably five years old.

“I was lured to freestyle from the shows we used to see at the supercross events, it was a natural transition and one that I’ve been lucky enough to follow with quite a bit of success.

“It’s good for the sport to be getting into the heartland of dirt bikes in places like Dubbo and Toowoomba, and it will be fun to perform in front of crowds we don’t usually get to reach.”

Sinclair’s passion for pursuing the progressive sport has been fraught with danger.

In 2009 many feared the worst when he crashed heavily attempting to land the elusive double backflip.

He was forced to learn to walk again, and his headstrong approach led to him lining up and landing the trick close to a year later, earning him X Games gold and the appreciation of millions of fans across the world.

Also confirmed as part of the Night of Jumps lineup is Australia’s first female FMX rider, Emma McFerran.

Fans will be amongst the first to see McFerran return to riding after a lengthy recovery from injuries suffered earlier this year.

The full list of FMX riders taking part will be released shortly, with these aerial artists set to fight it out for crowd favourite status against the might of Monster Trucks.

The Australian Supercross Championships will feature a host of family-friendly entertainment and off-track features including the kids-only Throttle Jockeys arena, celebrity races, fireworks, pit walks and much more.

Early-bird ticket prices start from $15.00 (Dubbo) and $20.00 (Toowoomba) and are now available to purchase online at www.ticketdirect.com.au.
