The dirt bike nostalgia bug will be alive and well as a supreme line up of former Australian motocross legends from the ‘70s and ‘80s hit the track.
They are lending their support to this year’s annual KTM Ride4Kids, Australia’s biggest charity dirt bike event, created 12 years ago by Challenge, and will appear in an exclusive interview at a fundraising lunch to support the event on Friday 19 October.
The ‘Mr Motocross’ series, a phenomenon that swept across the nation between 1972-1986 brought motocross riding into the lounge rooms of Australians and prompted thousands of kids and teenagers to take up the developing sport.
“The Mr Motocross series was a groundbreaking concept for Australia that has never been replicated,” said Challenge CEO David Rogers. “Its influence made motocross racing mainstream and helped pull huge crowds at events where previously no-one showed up.
“These guys were absolute legends of their time and this lunch is a unique opportunity for key motocross industry figures to meet and mingle with true pioneers of their sport who have paved the way for some of our current superstars like Chad Reed.”
There will be a Ride4Kids pre-event day charity lunch on Friday 19 October from 12.30 to 3.30pm. The lunch will be held at SUMAC, Shed 14, Central Pier 161 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands.
A two course lunch including beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for $120.00 per head. An auction and table raffle will also be held on the day. Contact Challenge on (03) 9329 8474, tickets will be on sale until sold out.
The Ride4Kids event day will be Sunday 21 October from 9am to 5pm with gates opening at 7.30am, located at the Dandenong Motorcycle Club, 220 West Area Rd, Wonthaggi, Victoria.
Riders who raise $300 will automatically go into the draw to win a KTM 85SX bike worth $6995. A second KTM 85SX worth $6995 will be awarded to the event’s overall highest fundraiser and additional prizes will also be up for grabs for the top 10 fundraisers.
