Ryan Dungey made history on his Red Bull KTM at the Unadilla round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, becoming the first-ever KTM mounted rider to take out the premier class 450 title on US soil.

Dungey continued his dominance at round 10 of the series, scoring 1-1 moto finishes to secure his second outdoor premier class title in three years.

Behind Dungey the battles continued with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle emerging in second place overall with 2-4 moto finishes.

Texas native Andrew Short rode his Team Chaparral Honda to a solid third place overall to round out the podium.

Former series leader James Stewart made a return to the series, but was unable to keep his Yoshimura Suzuki off the ground, crashing out in moto two.

Fellow Suzuki mounted Australian Michael Byrne put in an impressive showing on his BTO Sports/Palmetto Suzuki, leading the field in moto one. Unfortunately a mishap caused Byrne to bow out of the moto with a suspected leg injury.

Second in the series, Mike Alessi, will now work to maintain his runner-up ranking after suffering a sub-par round at Unadilla, while Short moves himself into third place in the overall standings.

KTM continued to experience a day succes, with Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin taking out his first-ever overall win along with Ken Roczen scoring his first moto win.

Musquin, a former FIM World Motocross champion, used solid 2-3 finishes to secure his first win ahead of GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac.

Tomac failed to carry over his winning Soutwick form to the hills of New York, taking 6-1 moto finishes for the runner-up spot.

Trading moto positions with Tomac was Musquin’s Red Bull KTM stable mate Ken Roczen. The German rider took 1-6 moto finishes for third overall on the day.

The Leading duo in points, Blake Baggett and Justin Barcia, saw themselves further down in the standings than expected. With Barcia taking his GEICO Honda to fourth overall with 7-2 scores, and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Baggett sitting in fifth with 3-5 finishes.

Baggett still maintains his series lead in the 250 Class over Barcia. 24 points separate the pair with just two rounds of racing remaining.

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will now head to Steel City on 1 August for the penultimate round of the series.
