Supplementary regulations to be released next week will categorise and detail the individual classes to be contested.
Dubbo, Toowoomba and Newcastle will each host a round of the Arenacross Nationals on the Sunday morning following each Supercross event.
The Arenacross will feature simplified tracks, with some of the more challenging obstacles removed to encourage amateur motocross riders wishing to make the step up.
International Entertainment Group (IEG) managing director Yarrive Konsky said the development of Australia’s up and coming riders was an important element of the overall ASX program.
“Our planning involves a long-term commitment to nurturing amateur riders to come through the ranks,” said Konsky.
“This will involve an Arenacross Nationals event following each night’s Supercross with tracks that allow riders to hone the specific skills required so they can prepare for the years to come.
“Saturdays Australian Supercross Championship will feature world class racing, full on Supercross Tracks and a traditional format. Sunday will stage a development track that will allows riders to hone the skills necessary to tackle supercross in the future.”
The four rounds of ASX competition in 2012 will feature a prize purse of over $30,000, along with a comprehensive national television package which will be announced shortly.
