Red Bull FMX Camp: Training the next wave of X-Fighters
The Red Bull FMX Camp was recently held west of Brisbane to unearth Australia's next rising stars.
Discipline, dedication and nerves of steel are essential qualities for an elite freestyle motocross rider, but how does a young FMX enthusiast bridge the gap that separates them from the professionals? The Red Bull FMX Camp, held west of Brisbane, went a long way in answering this question under the tutelage of Australia’s best performance coaches and riders like Red Bull X-Fighters winner, Josh Sheehan.
Eight riders between the ages of 16 and 27 were hand-picked by an industry panel, identified for their potential and desire to make it to the top. The Camp, run in the USA for a number of years, has produced world champion riders, including Levi Sherwood, who’s notched up multiple X-Fighters wins and currently stands as one of the sport’s form riders in 2012.
The final stop of the 2012 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will again be played out on home soil at Sydney’s Cockatoo Island on Saturday, 6 October. Ticket packages start at $69.00 (plus booking fee) and are on sale now at www.ticketek.com.au.
