CDR Yamaha team owner Craig Dack says that his two MX1 contenders Josh Coppins and Lawson Bopping will need to refocus on the job at hand for the final rounds of racing, after suffering a loss of momentum at round seven of the Monster Energy MX Nationals series in Victoria.
Current MX1 points leader Josh Coppins has admitted he was not completely comfortable in the wet conditions of Horsham, finishing up the day with a sub-par third overall finish.
Previous Hervey Bay round winner Lawson Bopping was disappointed in himself, taking a fifth overall after coming off of his career-best finish in the premier class.
“The guys seem to have lost a bit of momentum at this round so we need to work hard over the next couple of weeks to get things back going our way,” said Dack. “Both riders are clearly capable of winning races, they just need to refocus on the job at hand and really dig deep at the final few rounds.
“It was pleasing to see Josh run down the race leaders in the final moto and that should give him plenty of confidence heading into Appin and Moree, both rounds he won in 2011.”
Dack maintains a positive attitude with both riders still placed in great positions overall.
“The fact that we are still first and fourth in the championship despite the average round here at Horsham means we are well placed and our early season form was good.” he added. “But I will be challenging our riders to come out swinging at Appin and show some real spirit.”
Round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals series is slated to take place on 29 July at the Appin facility in New South Wales.
