The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship action is slated to return this weekend at the infamous RedBud circuit for round six of the 2012 series.

The expected return of Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart is sure to mix things up within the 450 Class which has been dominated by Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey since Stewart’s departure due to injury.

Dungey currently holds the red plate with a substantial 54-point lead over MotoConcept’s Mike Alessi. Behind Alessi is Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer who lurks just three points behind.

Along with Stewart’s return to the series, another name being thrown into the mix will be Tyla Rattray. Rattray, a former world motocross champion, will be filling-in for the injured Ryan Villopoto on his Monster Energy Kawasaki.

The South African was injured at round one in Hangtown, now he finally has his chance to prove himself on the big bike.

Last year it was Australia’s Chad Reed who dominated at RedBud, while in 2010 Dungey swept both motos on the day. Expect Stewart, along with the rest of the field, will be pushing to put a stop to Dungey’s winning streak this weekend.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett continues to hold the red plate in the 250 Class, as he proves to have gained the consistency he lacked in his 2011 season.

A 13-point lead has been generated by Baggett over five rounds of racing, hotly contested the whole way by the GEICO Honda duo of Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac.

Separated by 22 points, the top three have traded wins throughout the season, not one other rider has been able to sneak in and snag a win.

In 2011 it was Baggett who put in a very impressive ride at RedBud, going all out and winning the overall against his formidable opponents and teammates Dean Wilson and Tyla Rattray.

Along with the top three, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen will surely be strong at RedBud. The former FIM World Motocross champion sits tied in points with Tomac currently and with recent strong form at Budds Creek, a win will be on the cards soon for the German rider.
