MotoOnline.com.au has the ultimate guide to Hervey Bay's sixth round of the MXN series.
The mid-season break is finally over and round six of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals series is ready to kick-off at Hervey Bay’s Dundowran Circuit in Queensland this Sunday, 1 July.
CDR Yamaha’s Josh Coppins will lead the premier MX1 class into round six, holding a 21-point lead over the in form Todd Waters on his Motul Pirelli Suzuki, while British import Brad Anderson sits in third on his Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing entry.
CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping and Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide Suzuki’s Dan McCoy will be entering the weekend fresh off of trips to America, so expect to see increased speed and intensity from both.
Four-time defending champion Jay Marmont this week announced he will sit out the Hervey Bay round due to ongoing injury issues, with Horsham’s seventh round to be the aimed return date.
Luke Styke enters the second half of the series holding the points lead in the MX2 class. The Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing rider currently sits 32 points ahead of Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Ford Dale.
Behind the leading duo, a battle of young and old is on between JDR/KTM’s Josh Cachia and DPH Motorsports Honda’s Cheyne Boyd, tied on 258 points apiece.
In the MXD class it is the four-stroke mounted Dylan Long who leads the points chase on his Choice Motorsports KTM. Kiwi Kane Lamont sits in second aboard another KTM, while GYTR Yamaha’s Sam Martin is close behind in third.
MotoOnline.com.au will compile an official pre-race Fan Guide ahead of every round in 2012.
