James Stewart couldn’t ask for anything better as he swept the opening round of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series at Hangtown in a perfect debut on his new Yoshimura Suzuki.

After the highly-publicised mid-season switch of teams, it was make-or-break time for the multi-time champion. Stewart delivered a flawless 1-1 score on the day, proving he still has what it takes.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” said Stewart. “The Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 was really fast and consistent, as the day went on, the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 was just better and better and better.”

Stewart credits his team for their hard work, as they had only a short amount of time to prepare for Hangtown.

“I have to give it up to the team for all their hard work. I don’t want to get over confident, but to start off like this – knowing this is one of my worst tracks – and know we can keep building, makes it so good,” Stewart added.

The AMA motocross series now heads to Freestone in Texas for round two on 26 May, where Stewart will battle the heat and rough conditions in a bid to take control of the series.
