Monster Energy Kawasaki MX1 fill-in rider Dylan Peterson suffered an injury-plagued event at Murray Bridge’s round five of the Monster Energy MX Nationals over the weekend.
Peterson spent the week leading up to the round resting his injured knee following the Wanneroo round, with no bike time and a bruised and battered knee he was forced to tough it out.
The Queenslander had issues from the beginning of practice, and proceeded to crash in both the first and second moto which further injured the knee.
The fill-in rider for an injured Billy Mackenzie decided to sit out the final 30-minute moto, in a bid to recover as fast as possible.
“I went out in practice and every time I’d try to put in a good lap I’d bang my knee,” Peterson explained. “Then in the first race I crashed and landed on it, second race I crashed and landed on it again.”
With a mid-season break in the series, this serves as the perfect opportunity for Peterson to recover and return strong.
“We’ve got the five-week break now so I’ll go into rehab and come out swinging at Hervey Bay.”
1 July will see the Monster Energy MX Nationals series return for round six at Hervey Bay in Queensland after a five-week break.
